In 2015, an extremely unique and rare opportunity arose in Atlanta – the owner of a rink was looking to shut down the ice operations on his second sheet of hockey ice and mentioned that he would be willing to help us turn it into a dedicated curling facility. The owner went as far as to donate the building and ice making equipment. A few dreamers seized this opportunity. These pioneers (Jessica Sammis, Bob Hogan, Tim Rhodes, Rick Eswine, Maria Eswine, Caitlin Hogan, Paras Shah, Seth Abrams, Karl Strength, and a few more) took on this proposition of converting this space into a dedicated curling facility.

There was a capital campaign of raising dollars through promissory notes and donations. Construction on this space began in late June of 2015. With the help of over 50 volunteers, insulation was installed in the walls, floor, and ceiling, the floor was reshaped and rebuilt for curling, and various other backbreaking tasks were completed entirely with volunteer labor. Just over a year later, we have brought up our ice and are wrapping up construction.  We are hoping that the famous adage “if you build it, they will come” holds true. We are excited to share the sport we love with others, and we hope you will come visit our newly remodeled home!
